Demie-fleur

This clay sculpture is the perfect marriage between landart and technology

This artwork was created in 2010 for the festival Les Scènes du Chapiteau, in Romainmôtier.

This clay sculpture is the perfect marriage between land-art and technology. Sylvain and Jan made the shape of a half-flower using clay from the nearby river. The initial project was to make a complete flower, but local squabbles limited what could be done. Once the sculpture was finished, the artists made a video of its life-cycle which was then projected, at night, on their creation. In order to do this, Jan created an ingenious solution to hang the projector at the correct height, using two logs cut from the area as support.

This project, sponsored by the ChampsLibre Association, required 10 days of work by the artists and no less than 300 kg of clay !
